Democrat: "earmarks do a lot of good"

In a debate with challenger Chris Hackett, Pennsylvania Congressman Chris Carney, believe it or not, defended earmarks. As an example of the "good" that they do, Mr. Carney cited a salmon hatchery that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi et al. bilked the taxpayers to "save":

"These earmarks do a lot of good, and what ... Miss Pelosi did was to save a salmon hatchery ... to create more fish for her ... people."

Mr. Carney, please keep talking.

Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day.

Teach a man to fish, and you'll feed him for life.

Give a man a subsidy for fishing, and you'll have the wrong suckers on the hook forever.
